Well, sometimes in life there might be times when you will
have to face criticism and bear expletives thrown upon you. Reason being, they
asked for some advice and you gave it to them based on the advice you received
from someone else. The catch being, you never used the advice for yourself.
If you are still reading this post or maybe skipped and
started to read from here instead, then you must know that this piece of
writing can also be labelled as a movie review. The incident has made 3 people
lose their interest in horror genre and all 3 for them have ceased to consider
my advice and suggestions about movies.
It was one fine dark night. Few of my friends decided to
watch a movie…a horror movie…lights
switched off, speakers at full bass( to get that eerie supernatural
sound you get during horror movies)…ambiance was properly taken care of. But
they had a bit of conflict in coming up to a consensus over which movie to
watch. There…there came my part. They thought of taking suggestion from me.
Friend: “Yaar tu aisi movie bata de jis se fatt si jaye bas”.
Me: “Hmm….horror movie..haan, you have heard about blair
witch project. It’s based on true events, even the footage they have used is
real”
F: “Blair witch project…ok..”
A few minutes later…
F:”I checked its IMDb, only 6.3. is this movie any good”
M:”IMDb pe to mujhe kabi trust raha hi nahi hai…kitni hi
boring movies ko achi rating mil jaati hai…aur fir horror movies ko to kabhi
bhi achi rating nahi milti…usme bhi movie zombie-wombie pe ho to movie comedy
jyaada lagti hai”
“Yahan bhi yahi case hai, tum log movie dekho to sahi( all this
said without watching the movie myself just to convince them and make my point)”
F: “Chal Ok, ab tu itna keh rha hai to”
After 1 hour and 21 minutes (or maybe before that) later…. I
heard my door being knocked rather banged aggressively…
M: “Abe itni ghatiya movie…aadhe ghante tak kuch hua nahi to
hamne socha saari mystery last me reveal hogi, ho sakta hai fir thodi fate…magar
nahi…shoot bhi saali aise ki hai ki sar me dard ho gya”
A long list of profanities later from their side I could
make out they didn’t like the movie and I may be responsible for devastating
their 1 hour and 81 minutes. This incident ended here. Anyone would have used
SHIFT+DEL there and then, but I thought of giving it a shot. It still occupies
space on my hard disk which led to recurrence of same incident once again when I
recommended it to one more friend of mine. Well, maybe because I wanted to know
if it was the view of a group of people or really the movie is bad. The movie
is disaster….prooved.
But still I keep that movie
with me….Hehehehe..not to recommend it to someone…to watch it myself one
day…
